Pure Adventure was established in 2008 and quickly established itself as a leader in the provision of Canoeing and Kayaking skills training and education. Over the last number of years, we have evolved into a business that mixes the training/education and tourism activities. Pure Adventure currently offers a great selection of River Kayaking, Canoeing, Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Sea kayaking experiences, skills training/assessments and Instructor training.
Primarily based in the Barrow Valley in the picturesque village of Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny, this is the perfect location for all things paddle sports. With beautiful wooded valleys, historic locks/canals and exciting Whitewater. This is the perfect location to be introduced to paddle sports or to push your limits.
Pure Adventure is a family run business with many years of experience of leading and guiding paddle sports and other outdoor sports, in Ireland and abroad. We have a true passion and love for all things paddle sports.
Meet the Team
Patrick (Paddy)
Instructor & GuideWas born into Paddle sports starting to kayak at a few months old on Philips’s lap. Since then, he has progressed on to be an active paddle sports instructor since 2004 and has worked as a full time Outdoor/Adventure Sports instructor since 2006. Patricks passion is paddle sports and he spends all of his spare time on the water paddling or off walking in the mountains. He enjoys helping others to achieve their goals be it sitting in a canoe or kayak for the first time or being able to complete a big wilderness trip.
In recent years he has completed many multi day/week wilderness canoe expeditions in Canada, Scandinavia, Scotland and New Zealand. As well as competing in stand-up paddle board racing both at home and internationally. Patrick also spends his winters working as the lead tutor on Duiske Colleges QQI Level 5 in Outdoor Sports and Recreation.
Philip
Instructor & GuidePhilip has over 45 years of paddle sports experience, initially focusing on racing and then moving into instruction and coaching. Over the years Philip has tried his hand at all disciplines of paddle sports and has nurtured many young paddlers to become quality paddlers and instructors. But now Philip truly enjoys guiding and leading people on their first paddle sports experience, showing them the basics and passing on his knowledge and passion for the river or coast.
In recent years Philip has become a grandfather and now has started sharing his passion for paddle sports with his grandchildren (Who might be the next generation of Pure Adventure instructor)
